Written versus spoken explanations

Written versus spoken explanations.
The advantages of written explanations are:
·         Accurate instructions:
o   Enhancements like pictures, hardcopies, charts, diagrams etc. simplify the task.
·         Step by step execution:
o   The proper sequence is guaranteed.
o   Executed steps can be checked off.
·         Repetition is easy because the explanations are stored in a file and always available.
o   Trial and error are easier to manage.
·         The partners decide when they do the job.
The advantages of spoken explanations are:
·         Asking questions happens real-time.
·         The focus is on the learners difficulties as opposed to the teacher’s intentions.
Summary:
·         I prefer to start with written explanations.  Unsolvable problems need spoken guidance.

How did I feel when I had problems with creating gadgets?
I was a little bit puzzled. I couldn’t find the wanted gadget in the gadget lists because I didn’t see the “More gadgets” tab. Brigitte’s hint was the key. “
